Contact Cube visual redesign
by Qubic Church3 min read
The Contact Cube tab in the Evidence Vault was redesigned with post-processing, an auto-tour, free camera and smooth preset transitions. Note from September 2026. The [72,72] Genesis marker is void, and the colored anomaly columns are now known to be data entry runs.
What changed
The Contact Cube (Evidence Vault tab) has been comprehensively redesigned to match the quality of the Emergence Lab and Spectral tabs.
Visual upgrades
- Post-processing: Bloom + Vignette effects on desktop for a dramatically richer scene. Mobile keeps the lean render for performance.
- Gold wireframe glow: Cube edges emit a soft gold highlight when folded, picked up by the bloom pass.
- Subtler star field: 1500 stars at depth 80 instead of 5000 shallow stars - more space, less noise.
Interaction upgrades
- Free camera: Orbit, pan, and zoom freely. Camera presets now transition smoothly (lerped through OrbitControls) and release as soon as they reach their target.
- Auto-tour: Press
Tor click the tour button to cycle through all five camera presets at 6-second intervals. Any manual interaction cancels the tour. - Camera preset buttons: All five presets (Default / Top / Front / Side / Isometric) are now visible as buttons. Previously only accessible via keys 1-5.
- Color theme selector: All five themes (Default, Fire, Ice, Matrix, Scientific) exposed as gradient swatches in the desktop panel and a cycle button on mobile.
- Responsive controls: A proper mobile bottom-bar layout replaces the hidden control drawer.
Content integration
- Genesis marker: A new cyan-ringed marker at matrix position
[72, 72]showed the PUSHBYTES_72 "resonance" from a chapter that has since been removed (void). Distinct from the gold[22, 22]primer marker. - Anomaly column color-coding: The 68 anomaly cells are now colored by their column pair:
- Gold: columns 22+105 (13 pairs)
- Cyan: columns 97+30 (18 pairs)
- Purple: columns 41+86 (2 pairs)
- Emerald: columns 127+0 (1 pair)
- Info modal expanded: Now documents the period-4 attractor, the XOR triangle (100 XOR 127 = 27, and cyclic permutations), and the Genesis connection.
Math correction
During the redesign we caught and fixed a math error that was present in earlier Contact Cube code: the Two's Complement identity formula was written as sum = 0 instead of the correct sum = -1. The research documentation was always correct; only the 3D visualization code was wrong. All affected files are now consistent.
Text scaling
Font sizes throughout the component were bumped to match the Emergence Lab conventions: all 8px, 9px, and 10px text classes replaced with 10px and 12px minimums.
What's next
A chapter on the seven-position signature was published alongside this release. It was set aside as an open question in September 2026, because the signature depends on a very likely entry error in column 30 of the typed table.
